July 2025 Newsletter.
This month sees us have our last indoor session at The Plume and start our Summer Plein Air programme.
Lets hope that the weather is kind to us so that we can enjoy our lovely venues and have fun sketching and painting.
Last Tuesday Jean gave us a really informative and interesting talk on how to prepare for Plein Air and what to expect.
The overriding message however was to go out there and enjoy yourselves and have fun. It’s only a piece of paper!!!
The full list of Plein Air venues for both the Tuesday and Wednesday groups were attached to both May and Junes Newsletter. It is also available on the website.
There will be no weekly email to tell you where we will be. Instead there are what’s App groups for each day. If you would like to be added to these groups you need to let Jean or myself know: chair@maldonartclub.co.uk or events@maldonartclub.co.uk
The purpose of these groups is to let people know if there are any changes due to any sort of unforeseen circumstances.
You can download the ‘what three words’ navigation app If you cannot find us you can ask on what’s app where we are and the what three words app will take you directly to us. Obviously not obligatory but it may help.
Everyone is welcome to come along to either or both days. You don’t need to come every week. But if you haven’t been before, give it a go. You will surprise yourselves.
Programme of Events.
1st July A social sort of evening. Show and Tell. Bring something along that you have been working on that you particularly like or maybe you are stuck on something and would like to get some ideas. Anything really to promote a good old chin wag!!!
Start of our Plein Air Progrmme.
Tuesday 8th July Walk and sketch around Maldon. Meet at All Saints church at the top of Maldon High Street at 2.00pm
Wednesday 9th July Museum of Power. Meet at 11.30am in the car park.
Tuesday 15th July Cressing Temple. Meet in the car park at 2.00pm
Wednesday 16th July. Beeleigh Abbey. Exclusive to MAC members. £12.00 entrance fee. We have a 1-4 p.m slot. Meet in Car Park
Refreshments will be available from 2.30
Tuesday 22nd July Heybridge Basin. Meet in Daisy Meadow Car Park 2.00pm
Wednesday 23rd July Walk and Sketch Maldon. Meet outside All Saints Church at 11.30am
Tuesday 29th July Munden Church. Meet at 2.00pm
Wednesday 30th July Purleigh Bell and Purleigh Church. Meet at 11.30am
Beeleigh Abbey
With regard to our visit to Beeleigh Abbey Gardens. We currently have 15 people on the list to go. The Abbey needs 30 people to open up exclusively for us. Please ask a friend or partner if they would like to come along. It is a great opportunity to have this wonderful place to ourselves for the afternoon. The Maldon Draw
This year in Maldon there is going to be a Festival of Culture It is being held from the 21st June to the 12th July. Maldon Art Cub are participating in this by holding ‘The Maldon Draw’ on the Prom on July 12th 11 am until 2 pm We would like some volunteers to come along on that day and just ‘draw’ The idea is that members of the public will bring their sketchbooks and pens along and join in. But we need a few of us to be around to encourage and point in the right direction. You don’t have to be there for the whole 3 hours, just come along and join us and help out for an hour. Obviously if you can come for the whole time that would be great. We will meet at the top of the hill on the green under the big tree about 10.30. Good views, lots to draw and in the shade!!!! Exhibition
A quick reminder that our exhibition is at the end of October beginning of November. 30th, 31st and 1st. So keep painting!!!! It would be excellent if every one of you could put at least 1 piece of art into the exhibition.
